God created the heavens and the earth, along with everything in them, in six days. At the end of creation, God made humans in His image. This means that we resemble God physically and spiritually. After Jesus rose from the dead, He remained on earth for forty days, appearing to His disciples. At that time, He had a spiritual body, not a physical one, but it looked exactly like a physical body. When we meet Jesus in Heaven, He will likely have a body like ours. In the physical realm, the common ground between us and God is our ability to speak. No other living creature possesses language other than humans. Modern psychology tells us that the words we speak shape our lives. In other words, just as God’s words possess power, our words also hold a certain power. Since God has blessed us, we should speak words of blessing to ourselves and to others. Furthermore, from a spiritual perspective, we share common ground with God in that we both possess intellect, emotion, will, and spirituality. We are born with a conscience and a sense of reverence for God. For we are beings of spirituality. Today, many people struggle to affirm their existence. Yet, we are precious beings created in God’s image. It’s true that sin has left our spirituality imperfect. Nevertheless, we are valuable. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, the Holy Spirit dwells within us and transforms us to be like Jesus. This is our hope. Let us live filled with the Holy Spirit.
神は、六日間で天地万物を創造された。創造の最後に、神は、人間を彼に似せて、彼の形に創造された。神の形とは、私達が物理的にも精神的にも神に似た存在である事を示している。イエスが死者の中から蘇られた後、弟子達に40日間ご自分を表された。彼は復活の体を持っていたが、それは肉体と非常に似たものであった。私達が天でイエスにお会いした時、彼は私達の肉体とそっくりな体を持っているに違いない。物質的な面で私達と神との共通点は、言葉を語ることにある。人間以外の生き物で、言語を持っているものはいない。現代心理学では、私達の語る言葉が、私達の人生を形成すると言われる。つまり、神の言葉に力があるように、私達の語る言葉にもある程度の力があるのだ。神が私達を祝福してくださったように、私達も、自分自身と周りの人々に対して祝福の言葉を語ろう。また精神面で、神と人間との共通点は、知性、感情、意志、そして霊性を持っている点にある。人間は生まれながらに良心を持ち、また神への畏敬の念を持っているが、それは私達が神に似せて造られたからである。今日、自らの存在を肯定する事に困難を覚える人々が少なからずいる。しかしながら、私達は神の形に造られた尊い存在なのだ。確かに、罪によって、私達の霊性は不完全なものとなってしまった。それでも私達は、価値ある存在である。私達がイエスを救い主として受け入れる時、聖霊が私達の内に住み、私達の内面をイエスに似たものへと作り変えてくださる。ここに私達の希望がある。私達は、聖霊に満たされて生きていこう。
