In his letter to the Colossians 3:16, Paul says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. ”The content of this scripture is similar to his letter to the Ephesians 5:18 -20. The only difference is that, in Colossians, Paul urges us to let Christ’s word dwell in us; in Ephesians, he urges us to be filled with the Holy Spirit. In other words, storing the Bible’s word in our hearts is correlated with being filled with the Holy Spirit. When we memorize God’s word, we are filled with the Holy Spirit. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, our joy in learning God’s word increases. As a result, we teach and admonish one another, praise God, and are filled with gratitude to Him. In both his letters to the Colossians and the Ephesians, Paul follows this teaching with instructions about family and social life. In order to live well in society, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit and store up the word of Christ in our hearts. Today, we will focus on learning about raising children. Paul teaches us only two things about it. First, we should not provoke children to anger. Second, we should teach them God’s word. In Jewish communities, fathers nurture their children’s spirits by teaching them the Bible. This practice of spiritual nurturing through God’s word is important not only for children but for us as well. When we study God’s word with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our spirituality is elevated. As a result, we can lead meaningful lives. Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly.
コロサイ書3:16でパウロは次のように語った。「キリストのことばをあなたがたのうちに豊かに住まわせ、知恵を尽くして互いに教え、互いに戒め、詩と賛美と霊の歌とにより、感謝にあふれて心から神に向かって歌いなさい。」この聖句はエペソ5:18〜20と類似している。相違点は、コロサイ書ではキリストのことばを心に住わせるよう教えられ、エペソ書では聖霊に満たされるよう教えられている点にある。つまり、聖書のことばを覚える事と聖霊に満たされる事は相関関係にあるのだ。私達が神のことばを覚えると聖霊に満たされ、聖霊に満たされると更に神のことばを学ぶ事への喜びが増し加わる。こうして、私達が聖霊に満たされ、神のことばに親しむ時、私達は互いに教え、戒め合い、神を褒め称え、感謝に溢れるようになる。パウロは、コロサイ書でもエペソ書でも、この教えの後に、社会生活について教えている。つまり、私達が良好な社会生活を送るためには、神の言葉を心に蓄え、聖霊に満たされる必要があるのだ。今日は特に子育てについて焦点を当てて学ぶ。新約聖書は子育てについてたった二つの事しか教えていない。一つは、子供を怒らせないこと。もう一つは、神のことばを子供に教えることである。ユダヤ人社会では、父親が子供に聖書を教えるが、それによって、子供の精神を養う。神のことばによって精神を養う事の重要性は子供だけでなく、私達にも当てはまる。聖霊の恵みの光に照らされて神のことばを学ぶ時、私達の霊性は高められる。キリストのことばを豊かに内に住まわせよう。
