Jesus entered Jerusalem on the tenth day of Nisan. This was a fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, showing that Jesus was the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world. According to the Law of Moses, during the Passover, the sacrificial lamb was selected on the tenth day of Nisan.Then it was examined for five days to see if it had any wounds. After that the people slaughtered it and ate its meat on the fifteenth. Likewise, Jesus was challenged by the Jewish religious leaders for five days after entering Jerusalem and was crucified on the fifteenth. In one of the events of Jesus’ last week, He cursed a fig tree that was not bearing fruit. This tree symbolized the Jewish people, who were zealous in their religious acts but did not bear spiritual fruit. Most of them also did not accept Jesus as their Savior. As a result, Jerusalem was destroyed by Rome in 70 A.D. This is animportant lesson for us as well. Whether we believe in Jesus or not is the dividing line between whether we will be blessed or not. On the fifteenth of Nisan, Jesus died on the cross as a cursed man. By this, He atoned for our sins and freed us from the curse of sin. On the day Jesus entered Jerusalem, He rode on a donkey’s colt. When Jesus commanded his disciples to bring the donkeys, he said, “The Lord needs them.” Just as even the little donkey was used by Jesus, the Lord needs us as well. Instead of rejecting Jesus like the Jews, let us devote our lives to Him and live for Him. When we follow Him, He fills our lives with blessings.
イエスはニサンの月の十日にエルサレムに入城した。これは旧約聖書の預言の成就であり、イエスが世の罪を取り除く神の小羊である事を示している。モーセの律法によると、過越の祭りの際、生け贄の子羊はニサンの十日から五日間、傷がないか吟味された後に屠られた。同様に、イエスもエルサレム入城の後五日間、宗教指導者達からチャレンジを受けメシア性を吟味された後に十字架に架けられた。この週に起こった出来事の一つとして、イエスは実を結んでいないいちじくの木を呪われた。この木は、宗教行為には熱心であったものの、霊的な実を結んでいなかったユダヤ人達を象徴していた。また彼らはイエスを救い主として受け入れなかった。その結果、エルサレムは紀元七十年、ローマによって滅ぼされてしまったのだ。これは私達にとっても重要な霊的教訓である。イエスを信じるか信じないかが、私達が祝福を受けるかどうかの分水嶺となる。ニサンの十五日に、イエスは呪われた者として十字架に架かって死なれた。それにより、彼は私達の罪を贖い、また私達を罪の呪いから解放して下さったのだ。イエスがエルサレム入城された際、まだ誰も乗せた事のない子ロバに乗られた。弟子達にロバを連れて来るよう命じた際、イエスは「主が入用です」と語った。子ロバでさえも、イエスに用いられたように、主は私達をも必要としておられる。ユダヤ人達のように、イエスを拒むのではなく、私達はイエスに全てを捧げ彼のために生きようではないか。主に従う時、彼は私達の人生を祝福で満たして下さる。
