When Jesus left Bethany in the morning, he was hungry. He found a leafy fig tree, but it had no fruit. Then Jesus cursed
the tree and it withered. This was a symbolic act that prophesied judgment against Israel, who were zealous in their religious acts but did not accept Jesus as their Savior.Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.” The “mountain” of which Jesus spoke means a challenge or task that we cannot solve by our own efforts or abilities. Jesus said that even seemingly impossible matters can be accomplished if we speak words of faith toward them. Jesus frequently asked people, “What do you want me to do?” This seems odd at first glance. Since Jesus was God, he could have seen through people’s needs. However, Jesus wanted to hear their desires in words from their mouths. Jesus poses the same question to us. We need to clarify our desires and confess them. Jesus also said, “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” In other words, we are required to believe that what we prayed to God for has already been given to us and to have that attitude of mind. We who believe in it will be inspired to act toward its realization. Faith is not a study or a concept, but a courageous action. What is your mountain? Let us make a confession of faith toward your mountain and experience God’s miracles.
イエスが朝、ベタニアを出た時、彼は空腹を覚えた。彼は葉の生い茂ったいちじくの木を見つけたが、その木には実が無かった。
するとイエスはその木を呪い、それは枯れてしまった。これは、宗教行為に熱心でありながら、イエスを救い主として受け入れなかったイスラエルへの裁きを預言した象徴的行為であった。それを見て驚いていた弟子達にイエスはこう言った。「だれでも、このに向かって、『動いて、海に入れ』と言って、心の中で疑わず、ただ、自分の言ったとおりになると信じるなら、そのとおりにな
る。」イエスの語った「山」とは、私達が自分の努力や能力によっては解決できないチャレンジや課題を意味する。一見不可能に見える事柄であっても、それに向かって信仰の言葉を語るならば、それは実現するとイエスは語ったのだ。イエスは頻繁に「私に何をして欲しいのか?」と人々に尋ねた。これは一見奇妙に見える。彼は神なのだから、人々の必要など見抜いていた事だろう。しかしながら、イエスは人々の口から、彼らの願望を言葉として聞きたかったのだ。これは私達にも同様である。私達も自分の願望を明確にし、それを告白する必要がある。また、イエスは「祈り求めたものは何でも、既に受けたと信じなさい」とも語られた。つまり、私達が神に祈り求めた物は既に与えられたと信じ、そのような心の態度を持つことが求められているのだ。信じた私達はそれの実現に向けて行動するようになる。信仰とは学問でも概念でもなく、勇気を持って行動する事である。あなたにとっての山は何か?その山に向かって信仰の告白をし、神の奇跡を体験しよう。
