The world is full of possibilities. Each of us has great potential. We need courage to realize that potential and live a fulfilling life. Throughout our lives, God provides us with many opportunities. When we seize these opportunities with faith and courage, our talents flourish, and we are blessed. By truly understanding the words of Isaiah 43, we can gain the courage to live. Here God tells us: “Fear not.” First John 4:18 states, “Perfect love casts out fear.” In other words, what we need to overcome fear is God’s love. God paid the price of Jesus Christ’s life to redeem us. We are loved that much by Him. Furthermore, God says, “I have called you by name.” Although we made the decision to believe in Jesus of our own free will, God called us by name and guided us throughout the process leading to salvation. Even after being saved and becoming Christians, we often face trials in our lives. Sometimes, we may feel as though we are about to be overcome by severe trials, but at such times, God says: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” God is with us, protecting us even in times of trial. It is God’s love that frees us from fear and gives us the courage to live. Let us stand firmly in His love and live courageously.
この世界は可能性で満ちている。また私達自身の中にも大いなる可能性が秘められている。その可能性を引き出して、充実した人生を生きるために必要なものは勇気であろう。神は私達の人生に多くのチャンスを与える。私達が信仰と勇気を持って、それらのチャンスを掴む時、私達の才能は開花し、祝福を受けるのだ。イザヤ43章の聖句を真に理解する時、私達は生きるための勇気を得る事ができる。ここで神は私達に「恐れるな」と語る。第一ヨハネ4章には「全き愛は恐れを締め出す」とあるが、私達が恐れに打ち勝つために必要なものは神の愛である。神は私達を贖うために、イエスキリストの命という代価を支払って下さった。私達はそれほどに彼から愛されているのである。更に神は「私はあなたの名を呼んだ」と語る。私達は自らの意思で、イエスを信じる決断をしたが、救いに至るまでの過程において神は私達の名を呼び、導いておられた。救われてクリスチャンになった後も、私達の人生には頻繁に試練が訪れる。時に厳しい試練に負けそうになる事があるが、そのような時に彼は言う。「あなたが水の中を過ぎるときも、わたしはあなたとともにおり、川を渡るときも、あなたは押し流されない。火の中を歩いても、あなたは焼かれず、炎はあなたに燃えつかない。」神は試練の中でも私達と共にいて、私たちを支えて下さるのだ。この神の愛こそが、私達を恐れから解放し、生きる勇気を与える。この聖句にしっかりと立ち、私達は勇敢に生きていこう。
