In his letter, Paul tells of the abundance of spiritual blessing that is available to Christians through Christ. Paul must have been moved by the splendor of the blessing. Paul prayed twice for the Christians in Ephesus tounderstand its wonder. We will learn about the contents of Paul’s second prayer. 1: May our Heavenly Fatherstrengthen our inner being. To live abundantly in Christ, it is essential that our inner being be strengthened. Jews who have the Word of God have overcome many difficulties and have been active all over the world. Christians are given the Holy Spirit in addition to the Word of God. Through Bible study and being filled with the Holy Spirit, our inner being will be strengthened. 2: May Christ dwell within our hearts. The Spirit of Christ lives within every Christian. However, there are those who live aware of it and those who do not. Faith is about having a strong awareness. A strong awareness of the presence of the resurrected Christ in us allows us to live powerfully. 3: May we know the depth of Christ’s love. Christians live rooted in the love of Christ. The more deeply we are rooted inChrist’s love, the more strength we have to endure difficulties. Paul said that Christians need “all the Lord’s saints” to understand the depth of Christ’s love. In other words, we can truly understand His love by belonging to the family of God. The main theme of the Epistle to the Ephesians is “Be Rich in Christ!” If we pray this prayer of Paul as our own prayer, we will experience God’s overwhelming blessing.
この手紙でパウロは、エペソのクリスチャン達に、キリストを通して与えられている霊的祝福の豊さを伝えている。パウロは、この手紙を書きながら、それらの祝福の素晴らしさに感動したのだろ う、彼は二度に亘って手紙の中で祈りを捧げている。今日私達は、二度目のパウロの祈りの内容について学ぶ。1:天の父が、私達の内なる人を強くして下さるように。キリストにあって豊かに生きるためには、私達の内面が強くされる事が不可欠である。神の言葉を持っているユダヤ人達は、多くの困難を乗り越え、世界中で活躍してきた。クリスチャンには、神の言葉に加えて聖霊が与えられている。聖書の学びと、聖霊に満たされる事により、私達の内面は強くされる。2:キリストがあなた方の心の内に住んでいて下さるように。全てのクリスチャンの内にはキリストの御霊が住んでいる。しかしながら、それを意識して生きている者達と、そうでない者達がいる。信仰とは強い意識を持つ事である。復活のキリストを自らの内に持っている事を意識する事で、私達は力強く生きる事が出来るのだ。3:キリストの愛の深さを知る事が出来るように。クリスチャンはキリストの愛に土台して生きる。そこに深く根ざすほど、困難に直面してもそれを耐え抜く強さを持つ事が出来る。パウロは、クリスチャンがキリストの愛の深さを理解するためには、「全ての聖徒達」が必要であると語った。つまり、私達は神の家族に所属する事でキリストの愛を理解する事が出来るのだ。エペソ人への手紙のテーマは「キリストにあって豊かであれ!」で ある。このパウロの祈りを、自らの祈りとして祈るならば、私達は信仰の飛翔を体験するだろう。
