In this world where strife and division are constant, God sent Jesus Christ, the Lord of Peace. By dying on the cross, Jesus removed the wall of hostility that existed between humanity and God, between Jews and Gentiles. Gentiles had previously been separated from God and excluded from the covenant. However, through the shedding of Christ’s blood, Gentiles who believe in him are now in possession of salvation. With that, the wall of hostility has been removed, and Jews and Gentiles can worship God together as His family. When we are reconciled to God, we have peace in our hearts. As a result, we can maintain peace and unity in our relationships with others. The presence of Jesus Christ among us is the source of peace. Jesus repeatedly spoke of the importance of our unity. Sin brings division. Even among Christians, there are times when we judge others because of differences in theology or values. However, even if we have different ideas, it is possible to respect each other. As God the Father, Son, and Spirit work in unity, we should serve God in unity as His family. To this end, it is important that we seek the presence of Jesus, forgive one another, and pray for one another. Let us maintain our unity in Christ and thereby witness the glory of God to the world.
争いと分断の絶えないこの世界に、神は平和の主イエスキリストを送られた。彼は十字架で死ぬ事により、私達と神との間にあった敵意、またユダヤ人と異邦人との間にあった敵意をも取り除かれた。異邦人は以前、神から離れ、契約からは除外されていた。
しかしながら、キリストが血を流された事により、彼を信じる異邦 人は救いに預かるようになったのだ。それにより、ユダヤ人と異邦人との間にあった隔ての壁は取り除かれ、今は神の家族として共に神を称えるようになった。私達が神と和解をする事により、私 達の心には平安が生まれる。その結果として、私達は、他者との関係においても平和と一致を保つ事が出来るのだ。イエスキリストが私達の間におられる事が、平和の源である。イエスは、繰り返し、私達が一致することの重要性を語られた。罪は私達の間に分断をもたらす。たとえクリスチャン同士であっても、神学の違いや価値観の相違から他者を裁いてしまう事がある。しかしながら、仮に思想が異なっても、相手を尊敬する事は可能なのだ。父、子、御霊なる神が一致を持って働かれるように、私達は神の家族として一致を持って神に仕え合おう。そのためには、イエスの臨在を求め、互いに赦し合い、祈り合う事が重要である。私達はキリストにある一致を保ち、それにより、神の栄光をこの世に証ししていこう。
