One of the most important themes in Christianity is the resurrection of Jesus. However, the Bible does not describe the moment of Jesus’ resurrection. Instead, the Bible tells the stories of Jesus’ disciples recovering from disappointment and renewing their lives. Paul said in this letter, “By the grace of God, I am what I am.” In other words, Paul’s life was also changed dramatically through his encounter with the resurrected Jesus. The resurrection of Jesus cannot be explained by logic, but when we live by faith, we experience the power of the resurrection. By doing so, we experientially realize His resurrection. If we walk by the Holy Spirit, we will continue to be renewed, and our spiritual growth will continue until the moment we draw our last breath. Furthermore, when we finish our life on earth, we will be freed from our physical body and have a new spiritual body. It would be a dramatic change, like a butterfly chrysalis hatching into a beautiful adult. (Thus, God expresses the splendor of the resurrection through the natural world!) The spiritual body is a glorified body and will never decay. Having that body is our ultimate hope. The resurrection of Jesus has brought us such a wonderful spiritual reality. The gospel surpasses even the power of death. Death has been swallowed up in victory! We have the resurrected Jesus within us. Let us live with awareness of this powerful spiritual reality.
キリスト教における最も重要なテーマの一つはイエスの復活であ る。それにも関わらず、聖書はイエスが復活する瞬間の描写を記
していない。その代わりに、聖書は、イエスの弟子達が失望から回復し、彼らの人生が作り変えられる物語を記している。パウロはこの手紙の中で「神の恵みによって、私は今の私になった」と語った。つまり、パウロの人生も復活のイエスに出会って、大きく変えられたのだ。イエスの復活を論理で説明する事は出来ないが、しかし、私達が信仰によって生きる時、私達は復活の力を経験する。それによって、私達は、イエスの復活を体験的に悟るのだ。私達が聖霊によって歩むならば、私達は新しくされ続ける。霊的成長は、私達が最後の息を引き取る瞬間まで続くのだ。更に、私達が最後の息を引き取った時、私達は肉体から解放され、新しい霊の体を持つようになる。それはまるで蝶の蛹が羽化し、美しい成虫になるような劇的な変化である。霊の体は、栄光の体であり、朽ちることがない。それこそが、私達にとっての究極の希望である。イエスの復活は、これほど素晴らしい霊的現実を私達にもたらしたのだ。福音は死の力をも上回る。死は勝利に飲み込まれたの だ!私達は、復活のイエスを自らの内に持っている。この力強い霊的現実を意識して生活しよう。
